Live to Serve
I urge you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy, and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service of worship.
– Romans 12:1
The Word of God teaches us not to think more highly of ourselves than we ought
(Romans 12:3). When God gives us gifts, we have to be aware that the enemy
will try to get us to use those gifts to exalt ourselves and not God.
Sometimes we get so excited about receiving the “exceedingly abundantly” part of
Ephesians 3:20 that we forget to give to God what He asks for in verse 21. To
God be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever. We have to be
careful not to focus so much on receiving that we forget to give to God what
He alone deserves.
By staying in constant communication with the Holy Spirit, He is able to keep us
grounded and rooted in the love of Christ (Ephesians 3:17). When we operate in
the gifts for the purpose of expressing God’s love, then God is exalted and
people are drawn to Him, not just the gift.
Holy Spirit, teach me to serve so that God alone is glorified.
