A Day with Joni ~ Where Are You, Lord?
We know that all things work together for good to those who love God…
– Romans 8:28
The doctor said the word cancer, and – I admit it – the question formed
immediately: “Where are You, Lord?” The thoughts of losing my husband, the
devastation to our family…
Perhaps for you it was a diagnosis, or a teenage child slipping away. Maybe a
career blow or some other major life change – whatever your crisis, I know you
can relate. We’ve all had “Where are You, Lord?” moments.
I don’t wish anyone to go through these experiences. But I can tell you this:
If, in those most desperate moments you can quiet your heart and pray for
renewed faith, you’ll see that God never checks out on you. Beloved, know
this: He is in the early stages of transforming your heartache to a
heart-song. He is always making something glorious out of something hideous.
God is working, and He is working all things for your good.
Heavenly Father, it is difficult to read the words “all things work together
for good” when such difficulty arises in my life. Will You meet me in my
distress? Reveal Your presence to me in such a way as I cannot miss it. I need
You. And I know You are there.
